ESSENTIAL SKILLS TRAINING

UNDERSTANDING ESSENTIAL SKILLS

The workplace is changing... Employers expect strong essential skills.

Essential Skills are empowering skills. They are the nine skills that everyone needs for learning, work, and life, as identified and validated by the Government of Canada. These skills are applied daily, in various ways, and at different levels of complexity. They enable people to learn other skills, adapt to change, and succeed in all aspects of life.

Nine essential skills for learning, work, and life

COMPLEXITY LEVELS

Build your skills to get the job you want!

Complexity levels were developed to address the differences in skill needs between occupations. Example tasks for workers in a specific job are assigned levels ranging from 1 (basic task) to 5 (advanced task). The levels may vary based on the requirements of the workplace.

TRAINING

Take action on your success!

Summit’s Essential Skills Training has been designed to help individuals succeed in the workplace. The training targets different learning styles and skill levels, and can be adapted to meet the needs of various individuals and organizations. Training length is based on our free complementary assessment (e.g. 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks, etc.).
