Do You Know About the Second Career Program?

Second Career is an Ontario government program that offers training for a new job, including financial support. It provides career planning and financial support to help laid-off Ontarians participate in long-term training for a new job.

Second Career can provide up to $28,000 for:

  • tuition

  • books

  • transportation

  • a basic living allowance

For more information on Second Career visit: https://www.ontario.ca/page/second-career

I believe the Second Career program is an incredible opportunity that provides a great incentive to learn new skills. This funding allows those that probably would never have thought of schooling a chance to make a change in their life by enrolling in an in-demand career of their choice. Unfortunately, not a lot of people know about this program. If you know someone who has been laid off, and working temporary jobs just to cover costs, then you should definitely let them know about Second Career.

Second Career funding is available based on an application that is processed at an Employment Ontario centre. Below is a list of Employment Ontario locations in the cities Summit operates in. Call or visit one of these centres to see if you’re eligible for the Second Career program, or you can give us a call toll free at 1.877.262.2289 for more information.

What are your thoughts on Second Career funding? Is this something that applies to you? Do you or someone you know have experience with Second Career? Please share your stories.
